Okay--after waiting a bit for #215 to come up, I finally get word that the neck is kicking around the cave...so there have been some changes made and I figured I'd update you guys.

RON--Let me know if this is not correct, I'm pretty sure this is what we finalized things on as of tonight. For some reason my emails are not getting to you according to my inbox (they seem to just keep coming back to me.

Artisan Neck-run '09

Tony and I are on a mission. We plan on working non-stop on the remaining Artisan necks for the next few weeks. I'll take as many progress shots as I can along the way since the neck-making section is pretty dismal on the #030 Contrstruction Section. The pictures will probably be similar to these - group shots vs many individual ones. I hope that's okay, it won't be the same 4 necks each time, I'll mix it all up. Stay tuned for more.

So I get a call today...its Ed (Thornophile) asking if he can send pictures to my cell phone right at that moment...I had been given a slue as to what was going on by Ron earlier this week. I cant get pics sent to my phone believe it or not, but I do get email...so there I am at my daughters school play with parents getting all pissed off because I am sitting there looking at my phone waiting for these pics!! LOL SWEET!!! cant wait to see how it all ends up!!

Here's a little progress, and yes...that is 4-ply purfling on the headstock (Maple/ebony/maple/ebony).

Ron sent me pics of koa tops for my Artisan Deluxe #210.
Well this is the one I picked:

But that's not all.Since Ron is totally first class,he told me that he had a 1/8" matching piece that we could use on the back of my Artisan!

Been meaning to put these pix up over here for the good people of the Thorn Forum... If you have seen these pix on TGP, please forgive the repitition...

Ron pinged me a couple of weeks ago, and he is in full swing on AM #185: A guitar I have dubbed "The Nirvana Guitar".

No relation to Kurt and Co., but inspired by the Buddhist Monks, Effigies, and Temples I have seen in my many travels across the world. Ron and Pops are really working up some phenomenal inlays...

Here are some shots Ron sent me, I am pretty excited to say the least! This will have the Island Burst like #12 and #105, lollar low wind humbuckers with nickel covers and birdseye maple rings and a lollar blonde with birdseye maple cover. Mahogony back and Neck with Brazilian Fretboard. (I also have SFC Master #11 on order, it's going to be one big happy family along with my current Thorns, #89 and #74!)

As I watched the recent introductions I realized it was getting closer to "that time". Keep in mind this was originally AD#197 and is "in line" according to that order placement. As it turns out our big family vacation this year had us heading out to California from Upstate New York for a little over a week. After a few days in San Diego we had a mid-week day that was not booked up with tourist attractions. After checking in with Ron he said it was at a great time to stop...

Last time I posted was May of 2006 asking opinions about ordering a Thorn Goldtop. I put my deposit down and forgot about it. Today, out of the blue, Ron called and he's starting work tomorrow on my new guitar. The idea for this one is that I wanted a relatively simple/clean look but sophisticated and classic. ...vertically that is. Here a shot of my brother and my uncle adding a 200 sq. ft. "loft" in the back corner of the shop today. It will be done tomorrow, then comes the moving of all the raw lumber up to it. It will act as the "hot room" since it'll be an extra 8ft higher too.
