Trips to the ER are never fun.... :\

Well I was having some weird shortness of breath and tightness in my chest on Monday afternoon that lasted through Tuesday morning so the nurse at work took me to the ER. After being pricked 13 times (oh yes, you read correctly... dehydrated + lots of bloodwork needed = no fun) and having all sorts of good stuff like chest CTs, stress tests and echocardiograms it seems there is nothing wrong with me physically! One of the blood tests came back looking like a potential pulmonary embolism but...

My son, Brandon Boehme is graduating in May 2010. With college so very expensive, we've been looking for scholarships to help pay his way. It's unfortunate that he doesn't qualify, for one reason or another, for many of the scholarships we've looked into. This particular scholarship I'm telling you about today is a little different.

After 10 years, to the day of our first date, Pilar and I finally got hitched on Thursday, May 28th. We made it quick, painless, and with as little interuption to our regular routines as possible. My apologies for being a little out of touch this past couple days, I'm back into the shop today and tried to answer as many emails as I could. Thanks for your patience.

I know, I know... It's been too long since I last checked in. My life has been consumed by many distractions for far too long. Anyway, we finally had some videos made of our band and I was told I that I would be sub-human if I didn't share them here. You can see & hear #128 put to use, plus the rest of the band. I've spent about 8 days in Florence SC. My future Father in law passed away after a 15 month battle with lung cancer. He died in my Fiance's hand. When he was first diagnosed, he was only given 3 months to live, so he beat there odds. I got to meet him for the first time last year. My Granddaughter got her first new hip

My 2.5 year old granddaughter went into surgury on Feb. 4.
She was born without a Fibular Ball on her left Leg. The Fibula bone was too short on bent. The removed a piece of the bone, straighten out the bone and made a ball from the piece removed. They also worked on her knee and moved(and/or removed) some ligaments. This surgery was done at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore and was refered to as a "Super Hip and Knee" Operation.
After the operation, they found hardly any pulse...

As some of you know, my oldest daughter had open heart surgery almost 2 weeks ago monday. Everyone has really been supportive....everything from attempts at fund raisers to neighbors stepping up and taking care of my other 3 daughters while we were at the hospital. Its all been documented at this thread

As we all start to wind down for the holiday, I felt it appropriate moment to pass on my best wishes to everyone on the forum. This is a great place to hang out and you people really are up there with the best. Regards to Ron and his team for all they do for us - keep up the good work and hopefully one day soon the order book will be open once again!

When I saw many of you at the East Coast Thorn Gathering at Jamie's, we discussed the fact that my wife was 9 months pregnant. Well, she gave birth a week before the due date to a baby boy - Gavin. He's simply amazing. I think I get what the rest of you parents talk about. He turns 6 weeks on Friday. Anyway, here's a pic of the little guy at Halloween:

Monday morning at 4:30am we hear a police cruiser with a PA pass in front of our home saying "Prepare To Evacuate".

To Pilar, that meant get the important paperwork, insurance policies, diplomas, and a few articles of clothing to wear that day.

To me, it meant get the guitars in the cases and start loading the truck...still in a T-shirt and shorts, the adrenalin was pumping so much I didn't feel a bit cold even with 65mph winds pushing on me.

UPDATE!

Lyla Grace Wilson was born last night at 9:52pm CST. She was 6lb, 15 oz and 19" long. Mommy and baby are both doing perfectly. She was a little early, but it caused no problems. Those of you who are parents will understand what I mean when I say that I am just completely ecstatic at my good fortune that I have two healthy children. Now THAT's something to give thanks about next week...

I just wanted to take a minute to thank Ron for a terrific experience tonight. My good friend/fellow musician/client Angel Dean and myself were in the area getting a microphone at EVS (just a block or two from Ron's shop) for his camera when I said to Mr. Dean, "I'm hungry, we should get some pizza. Do you know any good spots?" We asked the EVS guys and they weren't much help. I thought to myself, "Hey, I wonder if Ron is around?" We decided to drop by and see if Ron...

I hesitated to post this, as it's def. a sad deal, but I believe in the power of people praying and thinking positive for those in need.

Our fellow Thorn junkie and my dear friend Steve (amstaff #'s 139, 62 and a hotrod) had a tragedy in the family on new years. His wife Gina passed away unexpectedly, leaving him and their 5 year old daughter Riley behind.

Many of you have met Steve at the Amp Show or the Thorn Shindig's. If you all could muster some prayers, or positive energy...
