I like it. It reminds me of the colored blinky light ceiling I had in my bedroom many, many moons ago.
Do the lights flash, and are they correlated with sound in any way? Cool guitar. edit: Nice bend in that top photo! |

Ooo - a Lightshow. Not sure how much they are trading for nowdays, but as a Ric fan from way back I know they're rare. The Type 1 came out in 1970, and the design was revised in 1971. The Type 1 used colored filters for the lights and had hand-wired circuits. The revised design used colored bulbs instead of the filters, and the circuits were redone using PCBs. The later ones also had a better transformer and foil shielding inside the guitar so the lights stood out more. I've never seen one in person, but would love to check one out! I've heard they get kinda hot when you play them...

Hey guys,
Thanks for all of the great comments. This guitar is a 1971 model built in January of 71. It is the very first version of this model and is completely original. Production totals are a bit sketchy but it's estimated that there are 25 or so. And just a couple of basses. |
